Hello,

I am interested in your comments and experience of using yacht cradles for a 32 ashore over the winter. Are there any I should avoid, what size should I go for, any ideas where I might get one second hand, how do I know what size to specify, what should I look out for when loading / unloadingh it?

Thanks.
Andrew

Cradles some times come up on the For Sale part of the Forum & on eBay.
You don't say whether you want to be able to store the Cradle at Home but various Companies make Cradles that come apart & go in the back of an Estate.
Contessas should be OK in a 4 arm Cradle with the Keel sitting on the centre section on a bit of timber.
One of the best Cradles I have seen had folding arms with adjustable props that, with careful temporary propping, allow you to avoid the bare patches.
There are various Companies on the Net, all of whom will probably have had experience of 32s. Expect to pay around £1200 if purchasing new.
Hope this helps.

Regards
COLIN

Colin,

Many thanks for this. I would like to go for the folding option since this will cost me less in storage during the summer. There is a company here in Scotland which supplies these so I shall start to investigate.

Andrew

..... and another one! Mine is at Port Edgar too but I'm wintering the boat in the west this year in a yard that supplies cradles.  Don't particularly want to get rid of it as next year - who knows? If that could help - 07954425790.

Cheers
Alastair
