Hello
I am looking for a new general purpose and class approved spinnaker. I saw on several contessa pictures a white spinnaker with a rose in it. It looks as if these were one design offer. A spinnaker is more standard than a headsail or mainsail that has to fit onto the boat's rig. Does anyone know if affordable onedesign spi's are on the market or can be ordered via the class association?

I am sure that you have been looking at English Rose which had/has a Sanders Spinny.
The majority of the boats that race use either One Sails or Sanders - all made to order. However several other Sailmakers have made or will make Class Legal spinnys eg North & then there others such as Hyde who might offer lower prices as their sails are made in the Far East (Philipines I think). Some people have bought sails from Crusader & Dolphin but I have no idea what the results were like.

Hi Mary Blue,
Any sail maker will be able to build you a new spinnaker but ideally you should have it made to comply with the Contessa 32 Class rules that are on the website. Those that race tend to buy them from Sanders Sails or One Sails but others use North or Banks in the fleet.

There is no special deal that the association has for sails of any type, it is up to you to manage this with your sail-maker of choice.

Second hand sails do come up on this forum and can be a useful source if you don't wish to buy new. Having just bought a new Spinnaker I have a used spinnaker that you may be interested in? It's past it's best for racing but would be ok for cruising use.

Cheers
George.

Thank you George. I know what to do now. My spinnaker is stil fine for cruising. I bought a new mainsail and jib from Sanders. Very satisfied about them.
Kind regards, Tom
