Rev counter on Yanmar 2GM15 has packed up. Any ideas on cause and remedies gratefully received.

Hi Tim,

I have had the same problem on my 2GM20, if you find the sender unit (on the flywheel housing) there are one (or two) wires with push-on spade connectors.  Remove these and clean up before reconnecting with a good smear of Vaseline.

 

Fixed it for me, hope this helps.
