Hello,
I have just removed my old volvo penta 2002 and am putting in a Beta 20hp (which I don't have yet). The volvo had a down angle gearbox and I have ordered one for the Beta. It looks as though the Beta will have to be raised off the existing bearers. Does anyone know how much and the best way to do this? Regards Lee

Hi
Your best option is to buy one of the very nice Jeremy Rogers mouldings. Worth the price. I did that when I fitted the Yanmar to St Paddy. He will supply a fitting kit as well if you ask, the resin, mat and flow coat to match. The finished result will look very professional. I also recommend you fit new sound proofing while you have the engine out and have space to work. Halyard product is excellent. My I can talk to the person below from the helm while motoring down river with out raising my voice. You will be so pleased when it finished |

I would think twice about the down angle gearbox - lower CG etc.. I think most like mine will have a straight one (could be wrong). You could alter the existing bearers by simply adding wood to the existing ones. Mine are stepped with engine brackets made to measure.
