I'm sure this is an old one, but here goes; do you take your mast down over-wintering, on the hard, in a cradle? And if so why? Is it an Insurance thing? Is it about loading the chainplates...?

Thanks

No.

In fact it is one of the reasons I don't come out at my sailing club as they insist on masts being removed which is IMO not necessary.

I do however remove all sails to reduce windage (and give them a wash).
