Hi,
Could anyone help clarify the true identity of my Co32, White Heron?
I purchased her Many years ago in Germany, where I live, as build and sail number 659 from 1978.
On starting a recent refurbishment and stripping out interior trims I find no. 360 scrawled on many, obviously original parts, this appears to be confirmed by a number stamped on the transom which ends in 360.
This would make her at least five years older as far as I can tell.
According to the previous owner she was originally deliverd in Germany and spent all her Life here.
Any Info. Or ideas greatly appreciated!

Nothing to worry about Philip,

the sail number (and build date) are correct, you need to remove 300 or so from your sail number to get the build number.  I believe that in the factory they started the Co32’s at around build No.300, perhaps because they have already built that many Co26.

For example, my boat is the same year as White Heron, has the sail number 640 but I am build No. 341.  Like you I have found the build number on a number of hidden bits of the internal woodwork along with the surname of the first owner.

Hopfully Jeremy, Fiona or Kit can correct the above if I am mistaken.

Oh, and yes I am a bit of a Contessa “anorak”Embarrassed

Thank you very much George!
That has certainly set my mind at rest!
No owner names found yet but I was also told she was originally purchased from a boat show (in Germany?) which would then tie in if she were indeed not built to order.
Perhaps the yard will still have some record - I shall ask at the next opportunity.
Regards
Philip
