Has anyone successfully carried (not towed) a rigid dinghy on their Contessa 32?

What make/design?
Where did you carry it?
How did you launch it?
What (if any) problems did you have with it?

The previous owner of Brigitte (Dan Darwall) used a Skylark 4', home built from a design by Selway Fisher. It can be found on the Selway site:

I don't know Dan personally so I can't say how successful it was but I do have a photo of Brigitte under sail, which shows the dinghy stowed under the boom, just in front of the companionway.

Hi Sasha,

that's interesting. The Skylark 4' looks a bit too small to be practical, but I was considering a nesting dinghy ("Two Paw 8" by B&B yacht design) which is a similar size when stowed. I see Selway Fisher have a 6 footer ("Doracle") which can be nested which would be even smaller.

I'd be interested to see the photo you mention. On Silver Harmony the space under the boom is limited by the sprayhood and rigid kicker. I was thinking of using the foredeck for the dinghy but the sprayhood needs replaced so the design could be modified...

Brigitte also has a sprayhood and a rigid vang. The dinghy fit between them. I've uploaded the picture here:
