I'm planning a galley refurb.
I have a '79 with a U shaped galley. 
I note the existing formica covered top extends into the cupboard and is glassed to the hull giving considerable rigidity to the boat. My aim is to end up with a finished galley comparable to a production boat rather than a DIY retro fit finish. I wish to incorporate a pressurised hot/cold water system with sensible sized sink and also like the idea of fitting an Isotherm BI41 dual to allow incorporation of a neat well insulated lid under a resin type work surface. I would also like to utilise the small amount of wasted space available and avoid compromising any rigidity of the current structure during the process. 

Has anyone any information/photos or advice that might be useful in my workup of an action plan towards this project?

Ok - I have access to Corian and appropriate tools/adhesives to fabricate worktop. A specific question regards the draining board area if anyone can help.
I have seen some CO32 Corian tops with a drainer that is hinged to allow access to the space/box below. I'm curious to see how the water drainage is handled. That is, if the drainer had excess water on it that dripped through the gap of the hinged door how is this drained? The original box has a drain channel around its opening which returns any spillage to the sink. With a larger sink that is fitted to the newer Corian topped galleys this would not work without some modification - maybe draining it into the sink overflow?
Any information/detail pictures would be much appreciated

You may find some pics via google images of refurbished Co32 galley worktops, Rogers will fit a Corian top and it does look really very nice.

Other galley mods include bringing the front of the galley cabinet into the boat to make the locker deeper, also a new locker underneath (accessed via a flap at the back of the cooker) for storage of pans etc.

if you can arrange to see a refurbished or new Co32 that would be worthwhile - I'm still on the original (but still good condition) Formica topped galley.

I've seen that one, another interesting conversion is that shown in http://www.luxuryatch.com/wp-content/uploads/1980-contessa-32--13.jpg - more pics to be seen by changing   --XX.jpg 

My interest on this is how any liquid spilling down the sides of the drainer cut-out door is disposed of from the box top channels. Pic ....--14.jpg shows a clear pipe with what looks like a Y joint above which could drain the two side channels, perhaps into the bilge in this? Also looks as if the foot pump may now being used to pump out the sink drains.

Although, my original Formica is also reasonable I have an Isotherm BI41 to fit, so need to take the top off to fit. Combined with the wish for a better sink it makes sense to replace the whole top. When the fridge is fitted there might be space outward for another locker, not sure yet. Thoughts at this point are to put the fridge compressor in the cockpit locker close to the fuel tank.

Any ideas where the best place to fit a calorifier and sizing? My initial thoughts were in the rear corner of the engine compartment, although I haven't measured up yet.   

As an aside, not sure how practical the shower system would be pics ....--27.jpg to ......--31.jpg?

We have inherited a calorifier fitted behind the engine so it's definitely possible; in fact, given the way the pipes run out of our Beta, it's the obvious place. It would be anathema to racers to have the weight there though. I can't tell you the model or how on earth they got it in there. It is virtually inaccessible and it must have been fitted while the engine was out. As well as supplying our sinks, it is also connected to a cockpit shower which we've never used, what with being in not-very-balmy North Wales and having a berth in a marina.

Sounds interesting, I've a Beta 25 installed - would it be possible to get a picture of the installation when your next on the boat? I've been in the engine bay, under the chart table and in port side locker so many times, I'm sure I can install it if it will go through the side panels? Not that i'm suggesting that it's a job i'll look forward to! Where is your pump/accumulator installed? also do you have an expansion tank also for the calorifier?
Wondered about installing a shower in the system, but just not sure it'd be used - i'm over on the East coast.

We should be on board in the next week or two so I'll see what I can do. Our water pump/accumulator is under a saloon seat, just in front of the galley.

I don't know how much water the calorifier tank holds or what kind of expansion tank there might be; there is certainly a small sprung valve which allows pressure to relieve directly into the bilge which I discovered when it was leaking - it had got furred up, preventing it from closing properly.

To be honest, we don't get a lot of benefit out of the thing as hot water never seems to coincide with our requirement for it and we don't carry enough water for luxurious showers anyway. I'm not entirely convinced it's worth the bother of having it. The extra pipework makes access to the back of the engine even more awkward and the whole thing got in our way when we were trying to adjust our exhaust run slightly when we changed our water trap.

We also have it hung behind the engine as Brigitte. Its supported on 2 members bolted to the cockpit floor
What makes everything so accessible is a removable floor. I can't imagine fitting it any way else. 
Of course everything else is more accessible too.
