If we could be more open with our identities, it would help promote fellowship.
It would also make it easier to integrate new members.

It is well knwon that sailors are often remembered by their boat.
It is a continuing frustration in this forum that we do not link contributors with their boat's name.
Or, for those who sign under the alias of their boat, we never tie up with their own name.

I can see no field to do this.
Can this be addressed?  Or is it limited by the site?

In the absence of anything better, can I propose that all members are encouraged to add into their profile, under "Real Name", whichever item is not already stated: either their boat's name or their own name.
I will take a lead...

Hi Richard,
I completely agree with the sentiment of your post..

We are a bit restricted by the forum software but I think the best solution is to do as you (and I) have done and add the missing info into a signature that is added into each posting.

This can be easily done by forum members updating their profile info.

Thanks George.
There is also the Real Name" field.

Might it be appropriate to put a note on the front page alerting people to this and pointing them towards your preferred solution?
