Dear All,

I hope your season is going well whether cruising or racing.

I would like to invite you to an event that the Contessa 32 Association intends to be one of the key Solent gatherings of the year.

The weekend of 14th/15th of July is the Associations Cowes - Poole -Cowes Race and Cruise.  Saturday morning on the 14th sailing from Cowes to Poole with a start provided by Cowes Corinthian,  returning on Sunday 15th.

At approximately 25 Nm the passage is less than 1/2 the distance of a Round the Island Race and should of course take between 4-6 hours, with a Saturday morning start this will see us all (whether racing or cruising) in Poole by mid afternoon giving plenty of time to relax and socialise.

Following feedback from members this event is designed to be of interest to:

Cruising owners as the weekend offers a cruise in company with a significant number of other Contessa 32's.

Owners from the West Country who would like to sail to Poole and join the party on the Saturday afternoon and evening.

Racing owners as both legs are part of the Solent Series

Double handed crews as both legs are part of the Associations "Chaos Trophy"

So you can join in fully crewed, double or even single-handed, cruise or race, whatever you like!!

We are being hosted by Parkstone Yacht Club who have kindly put their own Marina at our disposal for mooring on Saturday night so we can all be together.

There will be a traditional pontoon party on the Saturday afternoon prior to……..

A splendid Contessa dinner on Saturday evening at the the club, providing a chance to socialise and catch-up with the latest Contessa news. Kit Rogers who has recently picked-up the day to day operational reins from his father Jeremy has provided an update of his plans and innovations, including a furling cruising chute and new versions of the Contessa 32, which will be delivered by Richard Clark as Kit will be away in Croatia.

A photographic competition will be held of shots taken by you all on passage to Poole, no matter where you are sailing from. These will be projected during the evening and an esteemed judging panel will decide which is the winning photograph (Digital of course), make sure you bring a memory stick / some way of transferring your photo onto a laptop (If we have any IT experts out there to help make this happen, it would be much appreciated!).  I am sure these will include lots of photos of other Contessa 32's and is therefore an opportunity to get some good shots of your boat taken by others!

The very latest Association ties will be on sale as well as the the magnificent DVD "The History of the Contessa 32"

So please do come along and support the event.

Booking etc:

We obviously need to know numbers of boats attending so please follow…...

Those who would like to race can book and pay on-line on the CO32 website which is available now, so we will be able to get numbers of boats from this system.

For those wanting to cruise to Poole (there is no charge or entry fee for cruising), please let me know of your intentions by simply emailing me directly (Richard.clark(at)cultivateuk(dot)com) and I will keep a list of cruising attendees to ensure you have a berth.

Bookings for Dinner (For cruisers and racers) on the Saturday night will be made online on the website, this facility with the menu will be available a couple of weeks before the event, so keep a weather eye open.

Whilst I have your attention…...

Advanced warning of a further cruising event later in the year and a date for your diaries.

The traditional Class Captain's Rally will be held this year on the 29th/30th September.

This year we have a French theme; after a some waterborne activity on the Saturday we will gather in Town Quay Marina (Southampton) which is adjacent to Monsieur Hulot's Cafe where a French feast has been arranged.  Martini cocktails will be served prior to dinner and there will be some competitive entertainment including of course best "Allo Allo" fancy dress outfit.  In my experience Contessa folk don't need much excuse to dress-up.  More details nearer the time but please make sure this is firmly in your diary.

As usual if you have any queries or suggestions please contact me, I like to hear from you.
